This style of mantel is built from solid old growth oak 6x6 & 8x8 barn beams. The beams were made prior to the invention of the circular saw and were hand hewn by axe and ads in the 1850's. Because of its heritage and unmatchable character, this style of reclaimed barn beam is the most sought after for fireplace mantels and surrounds.
You can expect worm carvings, axe markings, and multiple tones from the 150 years of seasoning this antique piece of lumber has endured. The mantel pictured has been sealed with a clear coat, but is available unsealed as well.
The mantel can be made to accommodate any length & comes fully finished & ready to install.
